We took the two girls for a studio shoot session at Kids Pictures last Sunday as I wanted to capture a really nice photo of Mei Mei as a newborn baby.
Initially, I was worried if she would be a little too young for a studio shoot but to my surprise, I was told the youngest baby they had ever taken was merely 3 days old! :-o (Mei Mei was still in the hospital at 3 days old.)
We took some photos of Ying Ying as well since the last time she had a studio photo taken was about 1.5 years ago before her 1st birthday. Would love to take both of them together but there wasn't enough poses in the package we have chosen (we were only entitled to three). A bit regretful cos it is really challenging to take photos of them together on my own with hyper Ying Ying running around all the time. Anyway, Ying Ying proved to be uncooperative at the studio too. She refused to part with her half-eaten cereal bar for the first shoot. For another shoot, she was supposed to be wearing a purple fairy outfit but she cried and insisted on taking it off after wearing for 30s. Think she found it uncomfortable but she didn't know how to express herself so she just kept screaming, "I want to take off!!! (x 1o)". So we ended up taking Mei Mei's photo instead of her.
By the end of the session, we had (1) a b/w shot of Mei Mei; (2) a shot of Ying Ying in her polka dot dress in coloured close-up and b/w by the window (I took a few nice dresses there but this was the only piece that caught the photographer's attention); and (3) a coloured shot of Mei Mei lying on a garney sack and wearing a cabbage hat. The last one was the toughest to take cos Mei Mei's skin was sensitive to the rough texture of the sack and she had to turn her head in an awkward lying down / face sideway / chin on hand position which she was not used to - the minute I put her down in that pose she would start crying and I had to nurse her to sleep so that we could restart again. It took a few tries to get a nice shoot and I felt a bit guilty for subjecting the little one to all the 'suffering'. :/
Anyway, really hope the photos would turn out well. And I mean really well cos I am pretty fussy about the details (got a bit of perfectionist streak in me lah). I remembered the for the previous shoot, Ying Ying did a few nice poses (eg. on an antique high chair and a rocking horse) but I didn't select any of those photos eventually because... she had a loose hairclip on the head - there wasn't time for me to adjust it then because the photographer just kept snapping away really fast. Quite sayang cos the outcome would be perfect if not for the stupid clip. :[
Supposed to do the viewing and selection of photos yesterday morning but we set off late (as usual) and had to re-scheduled the appointment to next Sunday. Think I'll try to get this done on my own during one of the weekdays this week so that we needn't waste a Sunday afternoon on this. Will upload the photos here when I finally get it. :)
