You and I

For the longest time, Ying Ying referred to herself as "you" instead of "I" because we always used "you" when we are talking to her. E.g. "Do YOU want this?" and she would answer "You want this." We tried correcting her but she didn't understand then. Soon we got tired and closed one ear.

Recently, we started reminding her again whenever she forgot and used "you" to refer to herself. She would then correct herself in this manner: open her mouth wide but no sound came out for like 1-2 seconds, follow by a stuttering of "iiiiiiii...iiiii...iiiii....(want this)." That went on for a couple of weeks. We were beginning to think she might have some kind of speech problem and husband said we should stop correcting her outrightly but model the proper sentence to her.

Then suddenly two weeks ago, she stopped using "you" altogether and replace with "I". Just like that! :)
