Fetching

Today, I fetched Ying Ying home from school at noon alone with Mei Mei in my ergo! Usually, my father-in-law does the fetching but today he isn't free and husband couldn't take time off too. I have never been to her school on public transport so I had to familiarise myself with the bus numbers and bus routes before setting off. Needless to say, Ying Ying was very surprised to see me at the window. She stared at me for a long time (she was probably thinking, "how come this woman looked so much like my mama???") before calling mama happily.

The journey back took about 20mins. It was a bit tricky juggling with the two of them on the way back - I had to (1) carry Mei Mei in ergo, (2) hold Ying Ying's hand and (3) carry Ying Ying's school bag with the other hand. And if we were getting on and off the bus, I had to carry Ying Ying on my hips because the steps at the doors were too high for her. I got her to help me hold the EZ-link card and she did the tapping. Think next time I'll get her a lanyard to put the card in case she drops it accidentally. Although I felt a bit like an octopus, it was surprisingly quite manageable on the whole.

Ying Ying likes taking the bus. Think she finds it quite exciting - a refreshing change from travelling in the car all the time. Maybe I will fetch her home from now onwards... until I start work in July!
