Choz

To celebrate Mei Mei's 1st month yesterday, we ordered some boxes of cakes for our colleagues at work. Previously for Ying Ying's 1st month, we gave away whole walnut cakes from Bengawan Solo for our relatives and friends. But this time I wanted to try something different. So I did some research and decided to order from Choz because they have this petite cake set which makes it easier for everyone to eat. Initially, I was quite sceptical because I didn't like the way they advertised using the names of many celebrites who must have been bribed with free cakes or given major discounts and therefore felt obliged to put in some good words for them. But now I can see why so many of them are willing to vouch for their cakes. First of all, their presentation is so lovely. Even the cake boxes are made of good quality cardboard - I couldn't bear to throw them away and kept one to store Ying Ying's Thomas train set. Secondly, the taste is just nice; not too sweet. It would have been perfect if not for the pastry base of the fruit tarts which I thought was a bit too hard and dry; somewhat biscuit-like. But overall, THUMBS UP! :)

Note: Notice the difference between the 2 sets? One has got ang gu kueh while the other was replaced by swiss rolls. We ordered the swiss roll set for our Muslim colleagues because we thought they wouldn't like to eat ang gu kueh since it is not in their culture. :p
