Peaches and Plums

I finally got down to making the peach and plum puree today. They have been sitting in the fridge for more than a week and I didn't want to risk spoiling them (like the box of darkened Sharon persimmons I threw a few days ago - they were so lovely when I bought them). I plan to introduce the peach and plum puree to Ying Ying over the next few days. I was inspired by a fellow blogger who wrote that her baby likes to eat plums even though they are so sour. Hopefully, the 'sourness' will stimulate darling's appetite for more semi-solid foods.

I started Ying Ying on solids about 4mths ago when she was around 6mths old. Since then, she has eaten (in rough order of introduction):
  1. Mashed Banana (Her very 1st food!)
  2. Healthy Times and Earth's Best Organic Cereal (mixed with EBM) - Brown Rice, Oatmeal, Multi-grain
  3. Heinz Cereal (mixed with EBM) - Rice, Banana, High-Protein Multigrain
  4. Brown Rice Porridge cooked in pork and vegetable (onion + celery + carrot) stock
  5. Applesauce
  6. Carrot Puree
  7. Fragrant Pear Puree
  8. Honeydew Puree
  9. Cantaloupe Puree
  10. Papaya
  11. Fish
  12. Avocado-Mango Combo Puree (Her all-time favourite; I add in pear sometimes)
  13. Gerber Banana & Sweet Potato Puffs
  14. Steamed Egg Yolk
  15. Strained Green Peas
  16. Full Cream Yoghurt
  17. Broccoli florets
  18. Tofu
  19. Mashed Potato with EBM and Cheese
  20. Ground Ikan Bilis
  21. Lychee
  22. Spinach Puree

Well, there were a few other miscellaneous foods not mentioned in the official list above. Like the oily FRIED KWAY TEOW. I was horrified when her grandma boasted that Ying Ying 'knew' how to eat fried kway teow. Just the other day, she put in a tiny piece of belinjau nut cracker (the bitter hard and crunchy kind) in Ying Ying's mouth and I had to dig it out in case she choked on it. Then the following day, her grandpa let Ying Ying try a sip of herbal chicken soup right in front of me. God knows what kind of food they have put into her mouth in my absence!!! :(

Actually, I am guilty of sneaking 'real' food to Ying Ying too. Last week, I let her try a tiny-weeny bit of Thosai and masala potato. But I was really careful in choosing the soft parts for her so that she could swallow. Anyway, Ying Ying seemed to like it because she opened her mouth easily when I offered it to her again. Heehee... Am I practising double standards? :p

Nowadays, Ying Ying seems to be more interested in the food we are eating than her own baby food. Sometimes, she would stick out her tongue when she sees us eating. I just can't wait for the day when we can start sharing our food with darling. :)
