Ying Ying knows how to wave bye-bye now! :)
It first happened two days ago during our visit to her paternal grandma at the hospital. Her grandma was teaching her how to wave bye-bye. Then suddenly Ying Ying did a wave on her own with her right hand! Unbelievable! :-o Ying Ying waved a few more times to our delight. Needless to say, her grandma was totally impressed and kept praising her.

Before I could get over with her 1st-wave act, she surprised me again at the hospital lift lobby. We were singing her favourite Twinkle Twinkle Little Star song while waiting for the lift, when suddenly... she leaned foward and scratched at her papa's shirt. Then we realised she was touching a small red star on his shirt!! What can I say... Ying Ying has eagle eyes! :)
After the hospital visit, we went back to my in-laws' place at Serangoon to have dinner. As we were about to leave, I encouraged Ying Ying to wave goodbye to the Wati (the maid) and she actually did so!! Her gesture really caught Wati by surprise. She was genuinely pleased and commented on how big darling had grown. (She had helped my mother-in-law look after darling for almost half year and was around to help out during my confinement too.)
Then today, we went to visit her hospitalised grandma again and she waved for the 3rd time! I was very happy that she actually remembered what she had learnt! :)

After which, we went to an optical shop at Toa Payoh to get my specs done. Just before we left, I encouraged Ying Ying to wave goodbye to a salesman who served me. To my surprise, she did it again! :) The salesman was quite happy (but deep down inside he probably think the wave was no big deal - I guess it is harder for anyone to appreciate child development especially when [1] the kid is not yours or [2] you don't have a kid of your own to begin with or [3] you are a man).
Hmm... all the VCDs I have been showing to Ying Ying must have played a part too. The words "wave" and "waving" were being flashed regularly on the Your Baby Can Read Series which Ying Ying has been faithfully watching twice a day since 4 mths ago. In fact, we watched the VCDs together so often that I can even predict which word is going to appear next! The impact of the TV must be even greater on Ying Ying whose eyes were literally glued to the screen.

For example, during her nappy change, she would try to 'escape' from us by crawling quickly around the bed. It is pretty funny trying to catch her - when you walk to the left side of the bed, she would crawl to the right side. Then as you walk to the right and she would turn and crawl to the left. Heehee.... :)
Then just now as I was preparing dinner for Ying Ying, I heard her chuckling loudly to herself while playing a pull-string toy. We were puzzled because she had already learned how to operate the toy since 2mths ago (as shown in the photo taken back then) but she didn't laugh then. She merely stared at it. Maybe darling finally understood the meaning of F-U-N! Heehee... :)
And nowadays when I bathe her, she would do her standing-up act in her bathtub longer and longer each time. :)
Ahh....My Ying Ying is growing up so fast and I can barely catch up with her!! I just can't wait for more exciting milestones to come!! :)
