Ying Ying came home with an empty disposable container last Thursday. Or so I thought. Turned out there was a mini grasshopper inside the box and someone had made a crack in the cover to let air in. (Hmmm... I wonder how she got the grasshopper - Who caught it for her? Did her classmates have grasshoppers to bring home too? Ying Ying was too young to explain properly. I wish I could ask her teachers about it but eversince she started taking the school bus, I have fewer opportunities to communicate with them face-to-face. Well, there are pros and cons in taking the school bus. We can't always have best of both worlds. Sigh! :/)
Anyway, I didn't know how to upkeep this green creature so I decided it was best to release it into the lovely garden below our block later in the afternoon. The tiny one seemed happy and eager to escape from its plastic surroundings - it became more active when I opened the plastic lid. Ying Ying and I peered closely at it for a while before it suddenly disappeared into nowhere. While we were searching the ground, a passerby took a shortcut and squeezed past us even though there was plenty of space around to walk. Duh! I hope the little greenie had not been crushed under her feet! :p
