We took our two girls to Ballet Under the Stars @ Fort Canning organised by the Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT) last Saturday. We went there last year and I thought it would be nice to make it an annual event for the family. It was an pleasant outing despite the humid weather. Grounds were open from 5pm onwards for picnics - I wanted to prepare some home-cooked food to pack there but it was a bit rush so we made do with mac's (again!), delifrance, subway and sushi take-aways. *yawns* This year, we managed to secure a better spot closer to the middle because we arrived earlier around 630pm. (Last year, we arrived past 7pm and had to sit at the edge where there were inconsiderate people loitering around smoking every now and then. The smoke drifted over and it marred our enjoyment of the event.) The ambience was great and there were more couples than families we saw. (I suppose outdoor events like this makes quite a romantic date! heehee...) The dancers were fabulous but we couldn't appreciately fully because of our limited knowledge of dance. I was also distracted by Ying Ying's occasional antics of boredom like trying to climb on top of our folded stroller, playing with the wheels of the stroller, trying to wandering away from the mat etc. But I was quite amused when she tried to dance like a ballerina, with one leg up, while we waited in the queue at the washroom. The event ended around 945pm. Try getting a toddler to sit with you at one spot for 3hrs. It will drive you nuts, I assure you! Nevertheless, we will go again next year! :)

The best photo I took for the event (minus the stage pole) - the rest were all blurrish because the dancers were moving too fast and also we were too far away.
A blurrish but otherwise perfect photo
