...... ME!!!
While doing some spring-cleaning, my mother dug out this yellow smocked top which belonged to me when I was little. For a moment, I didn't believe her. I totally have no recollection of wearing this top and there were no photos showing me wearing it (not that I have many childhood photographs in the first place). I thought she could have bought the top herself and was only saying that to make me keep it for Ying Ying (because I had specifically told her before not to buy any baby clothes for her). But my father vouched for it pointing out that it didn't smell new at all. He was right. So I took it back home thinking of letting Ying Ying wear for fun and nostalgic purposes.
A few days later, I took out the top again. I thought the cutting was a bit odd. Initially, I thought sleeves were sewn too close together but upon on closer examination, I realised the elastic bands on the front smocking and back had become way too loose to provide a good fit. That was why the top looked so... flare!
I thought of keeping it as a souvenir - a reminder of my childhood. That I was once mommy's little girl, just like Ying Ying is to me now. But then again what's the point? It is just gonna end up collecting dust and taking up precious wardrobe space. In the end, practical me took a photo of it for keepsake before throwing it away. :/ Now a bit guilty thinking about it. I just hope my mother never asks to see it again otherwise she would be so upset when she knows about the truth. :[
