Ying Ying took her 1st cab ride to her Kindermusik class yesterday! It was drizzling all day long and I had no way of getting to the train station without us getting wet. So I decided to call for a cab.
I have always resisted taking a cab because of the stroller factor. How does one juggle between carrying a baby, a diaper bag and yet fold and unfold a stroller at the same time? I don't have three arms for goodness sake! But turned out it was not as bad as I had thought.
Well, I spent a few minutes practising folding and unfolding the stroller cos hubby has always been the one doing it. Then I left the house with a folded stroller so that I could just dump it in the boot of the cab. When we reached Tanglin Mall, I put Ying Ying down and told her sternly to wait as I unfold the stroller. Luckily, she listened to me and didn't attempt to move away. Or maybe she was too timid!
And guess what? I breastfed her in the cab too! Ying Ying kept fussing and I gave in because I figured the cab driver uncle would be too busy driving to notice anything amiss. Luckily, I managed to suppress a scream when Ying Ying bit me with her razor-sharp teeth when she unlatched. Otherwise, the cab driver would be wondering what happened!
Today's cab outing is indeed a mini achievement for both of us! I feel empowered knowing that I have the option of taking cab with Ying Ying plus the stroller. But cab will still be my last resort unless it pours again. Why? Because the fare came up to $17.20!!! :(
