Mothercare Nightshirts

We went to Harbourfront Centre for the girls' favourite Sakae Sushi lunch yesterday. I dropped by Mothercare since they were having a storewide 15% discount.

I had wanted to get some new breastfeeding nightshirts as those I am wearing now are way too worn-out to be seen in public. Though I have already owned about 8 of them, I have been wearing them every single night eversince I was pregnant with Ying Ying. So can you imagine how worn-out they are now? Each of them must have been laundered for about 300 times! A few buttons have dropped out and there are a couple of holes here and there which I have been too lazy to mend. The cotton has gotten so thin that I think my floor rags are newer than them. Despite the pathetic state of my nightshirts, I still love them to bits and they are indispensable in my wardrobe. I have gotten so comfortable in them that I can't sleep without wearing them. As a matter of fact, I am wearing one of my nightshirts as I am typing this now. :)

You see, my nightshirts gave me many fond memories. When I went back to work for about 6 months after my first maternity leave ended, I used to wrap little Ying Ying with my 'freshly-worn' nightshirt before I left for work, just to comfort her with my scent. I even wore it to the hospital just before I gave birth to Pam Pam. Needless to say, I never fail to pack my nightshirts whenever I go travelling.

So why am I getting new ones now? Reason is... my MIL and her helper will be coming over to our place to help with my confinement for one whole month and I can't possibly wear my favourite old and ugly nightshirts around the house with them around! Apart from the fact that the nightshirts are way too ancient, they are also way too oversized - European size 16-18, making me look really frumpy and matronly. (I bought them cos only that particular size was on sale. :P) I suppose the baby wouldn't mind but I am kinda embarrassed to wear them in front of other people, apart from hubby and the girls.

So yesterday, I found the same nightshirts (same design but with different prints) at the Mothercare. I took one look at the price tag and nearly fainted - a set of 2 nightshirts cost $98!!! I told hubby about it and he was shocked too. He couldn't believe that the ugly nightshirt I wear to bed every night costs more than his Nike tee.

I think I will try calling up other Mothercare branches. Maybe they may have special discounts again for the unpopular size 16-18. *cross my fingers*
