There seems to be no end to spending $$$ on the kids. Our latest major expenses? Keyboard lessons. @-@
Ying Ying has been expressing her interest in learning to play the keyboard eversince her trial lesson in school. She didn't exactly bug me about it but I could tell she is very enthusiastic when comes to music. Not ballet though. Haha. (I sent her for ballet classes at the CC last year but we dropped out after 1 term because she didn't seem to be very interested. And I thought most girls would love ballet! Guess she isn't one of them...)
How did the keyboard thing come about? Well, I didn't plan to let her learn keyboard since I am clueless when it comes to playing it myself. A few months back, her preschool started offering new weekly keyboard, swimming and I-math lessons to those children on full-day programme (i.e. half of her classmates!). The curriculum seemed interesting and I got positive feedback from another mother whose child was from another class but used to attend JG playclub with Ying Ying.

So I called up the office a few times to make enquiries but somehow due to some miscommunication, Ying Ying ended up doing a full-day one Thursday - the school bus didn't take her home. Her teacher called me up to check and I was surprised to learn Ying Ying was left behind in school. So I thought might as well let her join her friends and try full day for a while to see how it goes. That weekend, I even bought new blanket, bolster, pillow and pillow-cases at Kiddy Palace for her school nap use.
But come Monday, we decided to go back to half-day because we could sense the transition to full day was creating some level of insecurity in her (e.g. she started wetting herself a few times; being extra clingy to us) even though she had been in the school for a year or so already. Not only that, meimei and I missed her not being around at home in the afternoon. Meimei seemed to be a bit lonely just being with me. Husband was also happy to take her out because he felt she was spending unnecessary long time in school. Fetching her at the end of the day was also a problem since his schedule wasn't fixed and we didn't want her to take the school bus back because the journey would take an hour.
Anyway, a few days ago, I passed by a Christofori outlet at Junction 8 near our 'Hotel Serangoon' and decided to call up. Turned out there is a new Little Mozarts class starting next Wednesday. I talked to Ying Ying and made sure she was totally serious about learning before I made payment today. Now I wonder if we should buy a piano for her so that she can practise at home. Otherwise why attend lessons, right? But that would cost some more $$$. Haiz. Think I better start giving tuition to finance all these expenditure. :p
