Resuming Kindermusik...

We were supposed to go to Ying Ying's new kindermusik Imagine That trial class last Saturday. Unfortunately, we were caught in a traffic jam along CTE and I had to call up to cancel the trial since we would be about 15mins late by the time we reach there. (The session was 45mins long.) A bit disappointing because I was looking forward to resuming Ying Ying's classes at kindermusik.

Ying Ying started attending kindermusik when she was about 9mths old. Since then, she has completed 4 full unit themes - Village (Dewdrops, Feathers, Zoombuggy) x 8wks each and Our Time (Milk & Cookies) x 15wks. We enjoyed the classes and loved the music which we still listen to at home all the time. Not forgetting her wonderful teacher, Ms Hazi who was so ever warm and sweet.

Nonetheless, I decided to discontinue (a few mths before she turned 2) because I found travelling part a big turn-off. It was extremely time-consuming, expensive, tiring and troublesome to travel from Punggol to Tanglin Mall just for a 45mins lesson. (I think I blogged about this a long time back.) Plus she was already attending twice a week Julia Gabriel playclub which also has musical component incorporated in it.

Recently, I revisited the idea of her resuming kindermusik again because husband complained we always waste our weekends at home, sleeping in late and getting out late. His idea of 'productive' weekend is to go to different places and do things intead of being cooped up at home.

Then five wks ago, things started to change because I signed Ying Ying up for her Julia Gabriel Mandarin 1-hr Mandarin edudrama class on Sundays. I was concerned she wasn't speaking a lot of Mandarin and I wanted to provide some kind of exposure on top of what she is getting in school. (ok, I admit I am a kiasu parent here.) I was so happy to get a slot finally - can you believe I had been on the waitlist since the beginning of this year?! Getting her to her Mandarin edudrama class on time has been a great incentive for us to get out of the house earlier. Punctuality really counts when the class is short.

Anyway, I thought it would be great to have the same kind of motivation to start Saturdays early too so I called up kindermusik last week to enquire but I was told the weekend classes for ALL timings were fully packed. (I couldn't believe they have become SO popular now.) Then they called me back a few days ago to inform me that a child has withdrawn unexpectedly and there was a vacancy. Yeah! I was so happy - this must be a sign that Ying Ying should resume kindermusik!

Now that Ying Ying has turned 3, she can go move to the next level - Imagine That which is meant for 3-5 years old. It is all about stretching the children's imagination - which I think would be interesting to Ying Ying since she has been imagining a lot these days, pretending to be a driver, firefighter, pilot.... :0) Unlike her previous classes which were all parent-accompanied, she will be left independent with her teacher for the 1st 30mins and I will join her in the last 15mins. I am not sure how this new class will work out but I have faith that she would adapt quickly to the new class and teacher, as she always does! :)

Note: I didn't forget about meimei, you know...... I wanted to enrol her but all the Village classes are currently doing the same theme as what Ying Ying had done before, which is a bit pointless since we already owned the CD and materials. Guess I probably wait out for a couple of mths until a new theme comes along. By then, meimei would be even more ready to participate in class, I'm sure. :)
