Husband and I both have a fetish of keeping our master toilet cover closed after use. The habit came about after I read about a fengshui tip of 'sha-qi' emitting from the the toilet bowl. So last week, the hinges of our toilet bowl cover finally broke after more than 5 years of use and abuse.
We managed to get a replacement from one of the Sim Siang Choon outlets at Bugis last Thursday. Initially, I wanted one of those fanciful acrylic ones, hoping to motivate Ying Ying to visit the toilet more often (without me prompting her). But to my dismay, the acrylic ones were so heavy and I was sure it would break into pieces in no time with us opening and closing all the time.
Then the salesgirl introduced me to one that comes with spring hinges such that it would just close quietly at a tip of the finger. It cost us $38 (husband DIY the installation) and boy, what a marvellous invention! Previously, I was so used to hearing the slamming of the toilet cover. Now, it is just complete silence after closing! Blissful. So effortless. What more, I don't have to worry about the girls' fingers being jammed.
The only downside is that it only came in white; our toilet seat is beige. Good news is that it matches Ying Ying's white baby bjorn toilet trainer. Heheh. A good buy overall. :D
