Bus Ride

Here're some photos I took of Ying Ying in the bus last month. She was very eager to help me hold on to the EZlink card after I showed her how to tap it on the sensor. I especially like the cute photo at the top right hand corner where she was saying cheese with the EZlink card. ^_^

We started taking public transport to her classes more frequently after I realised the expenditure on cab fare was buring a big hole in my pocket. As her classes were located far away from where we stay, it typically cost me about $13-15 per trip to get there and sometimes even more if I call for a cab. There was a period of time she had to attend 4 classes/wk. So that's like $15 x 4 = $60/wk = $240/mth!!! Just on cab fare!!! Gosh!!! It would have cost me a lot more if we take cab back as well. Thank goodness husband always picks us up after her classes.

On the other hand, I spend less than $3 taking feeder bus followed by MRT. For classes located far from the MRT, I would alight at the nearest MRT station and then take a cab there. The total cost would probably add up to about $5 only since the distance is considerably shorter.

Not only it is expensive to take cab, I find waiting for one very frustrating at times, especially when we are running late. The feeder bus service is more frequent and reliable. Why wait for a cab when the bus is coming your way right?

The downside is that we have gotta get out of the house earlier (which requires some time management and discipline on my part) since the journey via public transport will take twice as long (i.e. from 20-30min to 45min-1hr). The longer travelling time also makes us both quite weary too by the time we arrive at her class.

Ah well. We can't have the best of both worlds. Guess we should either: (a) move nearer to the city (but that will have to wait until we manage to sell off our current unit which can take years) ; or (b) enrol in a suitable preschool nearer to home (must do some research here but this probably means I have to lower my expectations which I am reluctant to) ; or (c) homeschool?!? (hmmm...)

p.s. Notice the big bruise below her left eye? She fell and hit against the edge of the bedside table while fooling around the bed the day before. Although I was right beside her, I caught her a second too late. :( Everytime I looked at her bruise, I felt a bit sim tia (heartache) and guilty for not preventing her fall. The bruise took about 2 long wks to disappear totally. I didn't apply medication on it in case it gets into her eye. Anyway, I am just thankful she didn't injure her left eye. Hope this will never happen again!!!
