Pumpkin Seeds

Lookin' miserable...

The fever and rashes were back!!! I doubted it was Roseola again because recurrence is rare and moreover, she developed rashes before fever. I strongly suspect it was an allergic reaction from the green-tea flavoured pumpkin seeds her paternal grandmother fed her an hour before all these happened. (She did so discreetly but I happened to see it.) Luckily, we still have some calamine lotion left over from the Roseola episode.

We took her to see a GP the following day and true enough, the doctor said it was most probably caused by something she ate. Initially, I thought it could be the HL milk I switched to drinking recently but the doctor said that breastmilk should not be the cause because food components are broken down before they passed into the breastmilk. So what else but the pumpkin seeds right???

Anyway, I thought her grandmother would be sorry when hubby confronted her about it. But she turned super upset and indignant! She didn't believe it was the pumpkin seeds, saying that she only fed her a teeny-weeny bit. Instead, she pushed the blame on poor Pepe the dog!!! Well, Pepe has been around since Ying Ying was born. How can she suddenly developed rashes just like that right? Then guess what - her paternal grandfather suddenly mentioned that he had added in a teeny-weeny bit of Marmite in her porridge recently. Gosh! I think they should at least clear with me first before feeding Ying Ying anything new! :( But you know, old folks sometimes just feel they know the best. It so happened that Ying Ying did not take any Marmite on the day of occurence, which leaves the pumpkin seeds as the main suspects!!!

I wanted to feed her some pumpkin seeds to confirm my belief but hubby thought it was unneccessary to add on to Ying Ying's discomfort. Anyway, we fed Ying Ying with some anti-histamine syrup as prescribed by the doctor and she recovered in a couple of days.

Cheery again!
