1st Hair Cut

Ying Ying went for her very 1st salon haircut!!! We were at United Square for a trial class at Growing Up Gifted when I passed by a salon which specialised in cutting hair for kids. After the uneven haircut I did on Ying Ying a few months ago, I decided to leave the job to the professionals this time round.

Actually, I had pondered for many days even weeks before finally deciding to take her there. I liked her with long hair because she appeared cuter and neater with her hair all tied up. But at home, I preferred to let her hair down especially after a bath. These days, her long fringe kept getting into her eyes and she really resembled a shaggy dog. Also, it was getting increasingly difficult and time-consuming to get her to sit still so that I could comb and tie her hair properly. Sometimes, I had to re-tie her hair again and again (which can be quite exasperating for both of us) because the bands came loose or she yanked them off. Well, I never had long hair when I was young because my pragmatic mum rationalised children should not have hair longer beyond their ears. Maybe that explains why I was so reluctant to send Ying Ying for a haircut.

Anyway, thanks to the salon VCD player, Ying Ying sat very still for about ten minutes or so with her eyes glued on the Hi-5 programme. But she started fidgeting when the lady started to work on her fringe. Towards the end, she got so restless that I had to put her on my lap and distract her with some of the salon toys and a balloon which kept hitting the hairstylist's face. :p

Here's how she looked like now:

A bit "tood" right? Actually, I had wanted an innocent-looking "doll" cut (all straight in front and at the back) but I forgot to make clear my preference to the hairstylist until it was too late. In the end, Ying Ying had a "doll" fringe but a layered cut at the side and back which I think don't really match unless your face is slim and defined like Zoe Tay. Anyway, I am just pleased that I can still put pretty clips on her like this:

Still lookin' pink n' girly! Heehee... :)
