Getting Ready...

The nesting instincts are finally kicking in.

After much procastination, I finally got down to retrieving all the baby clothes from the storeroom and laundering them in batches last week. So far, I managed to wash and fold all the cloth diapers (30+ of them!) and some basic infant clothings. But I still have two more baskets to go - one of baby pants/socks/mittens/toys and one of my nursing tops (I can't believe I bought so many similar-looking ones). Thank goodness for the Leifheit drying rack (see above) which I got on sale two months ago from Isetan (with free delivery - yeah!). Airing the clothes to dry is now faster and easier because I no longer have to struggle with poles and pegs.

The cot is not ready yet - hubby is reluctant to set it up because it will get up a big chunk of space in our bedroom. But I have taken it out of the storeroom to clean it yesterday. I have forgotten where I have placed all the cot mattress covers though. :/ Maybe they are still at my in-laws' place where the cot was last set up erhm, three years ago. :p Must remind myself when I go there later today...

Oh yah, I have also forgotten where I have kept all the nappy pins! What's wrong with my brain these days?!? I used to have so many of them lying around. Hope I can still find them.... Feel so reluctant to buy again since this may be our last baby...

Meanwhile, I have ordered a new mattress from Seahorse for the foldable Graco playpen which I intend to set up in our living room and over at my in-law's place after the confinement period. The new mattress cost about $42 and it takes 3 weeks to arrive. I had wanted to buy a ready-made one but the salesperson at Kiddy Palace Junction 8 told me they do not carry such dimensions. So I decided to order from Seahorse (also at J8) because I didn't want to make a special trip to KKH where we first bought the playpen and the mattress (which we threw out last year).

With the due date looming in about 2 weeks' time, I am beginning to feel a mounting sense of urgency to declutter and tidy up the house. What would my minimalist in-laws think when they see the massive piles of books and miscellaneous stuff lying around here and there?? It would be so embarrassing!!! Maybe they are thinking in their hearts - "she is not working yet the house is still so messy..." :((

Still got a zillion things to do - prepare hospital bag, get ready the girls' luggage for their 3-day stay over at their grandparents' place while I am at the hospital etc etc. But now I must go recharge a bit before the girls wake up. Gotta go gynae check-up later on. See ya!
