I went for a routine checkup at the gynae's yesterday morning. Gynae scanned and said baby no.3 weighed about 3.2-3.3 kg. I thought it was strange because he said she was only 2.2-2.3kg on the last visit 2 weeks ago. Does it mean the baby has put on 1kg in just 2 weeks?? When I asked him, he just brushed it off and said all these figures are merely estimates and not accurate. Well.... :/
Anyway, we were caught unexpected when he started a pretty long discussion with us about the impending c-sec. (Usually, we were in and out of his office within 10 minutes.)
Though we knew this is most likely going to end up in a c-sec again, we were reluctant to schedule a date, preferring to wait for the labour to start naturally by itself. But that would be considered an 'emergency' c-sec because it is not scheduled.
My gynae does not recommend an emergency c-sec because of the fact that I have already undergone through two c-secs. As such, I would be putting myself at risk of uterine rupture which according to him, affects about 1% of pregnancies. He went on to talk about the risks to both the mother and the baby. He was very surprised that I was not familiar with uterine rupture because he felt all women who have gone through c-sec should be made aware of this risk for subsequent pregnancies. It made me felt a little foolish for being so ignorant of my own state of health. :< .
Though I didn't think I would be so 'lucky' to suffer from uterine rupture during labour, I was lost for words when he asked why take the risk. He hinted at us to schedule a date though he said he didn't want to be 'dogmatic' about this. He said a date can be scheduled any day after the minimum 39 weeks.
So there.
The thought of having a fixed date is daunting. :(
Baby is supposed to be due on 10 October. Last night, I asked Faith which day she wanted the baby's birthday to be. She said 9th, just like Angie and her.
But I am just worried no.3 cannot wait until the 9th. Yesterday, the gynae measured my length of my tummy to be around 37cm - which means 37 weeks. This means baby is going to come around 3 weeks' time - which means the first week of October 3rd to 9th.
Faith was born at 40th week while Angie was at 39th week. So Hubby thinks baby is going to come around 3rd or 4th October.
Well, let's hope the baby will stay there till 9th October!
P.S. I have finally decided on a Chinese name for baby! :) It is pretty easy actually since I have to think of only ONE word that is different from her sisters' Chinese names. Haha. Still brainstorming for a suitable English one though!
