I turned 31 eleven days ago. Since husband was busy with work, I decided to order a birthday cake for myself. Hahaha!!! The strawberry classic from 7th manna was so yummilicious that we almost finished the whole cake at one go. The cream was unbelievably fresh and light, unlike those sold outside. Ying Ying tried poking the sides to taste the cream even though we told her not to. I was a bit miffed when husband kept stealing glances at the TV to watch the Olympics table-tennis finals between the Singapore and China while trying to take photographs of us cutting the cake at the same time. Hello, which is more important?!?
Cake aside, husband gave me a gift of time. No need for fanciful flowers, extravagant jewellery or expensive meals. Just the luxury of time. He helped look after our kids while I stole some me-time for a long-awaited facial. Gosh, I had not felt so pampered for a long time. The 2hr brightening facial was so good that I lost all track of time. How nice to be able to work in such a relaxing ambience, errr...minus the low pay and long hours. In the end, husband brought the (screaming) kids to me. They created such a racket that I couldn't think straight - I hastily renewed my facial package as a birthday gift to myself.
So all in all, it was a self-service birthday! Hahaha!!!
