Belly & Baby Names

Went for a routine checkup last Thu. Gynae estimated baby to be about 600g now. I am beginning to feel the strain of pregnancy. Can't carry Ying Ying for long without getting tired. Just the day before, I took Ying Ying to the Jurong Bird Park for her playclub excursion. I had wanted to stay on but my body couldn't take all the walking. Nearly fainted towards the end of the 3hr excursion. Could be also due to the fact that I left home in a hurry without a proper breakfast. Don't remember feeling so exhuasted during my 2nd trimester when I was having Ying Ying. Or maybe I have forgotten.

Anyway, apart from physical strain, I also had to put up with intense itch from my expanding belly. The itch got so bad that my whole belly got bright red from all the scratching especially during bathtime (you just can't help it!). All the moisturisers I had didn't seemed to help much. The Boots pregnancy stretchmark cream I bought from Bangkok a long time back for my first pregnancy had (finally) finished and I was so desperate to even contemplate hopping on a budget airline to get the cream again.

Then I remembered a long time back someone mentioned to me about this tonic body treatment oil from Clarins for pregnancy. But I never thought of splurging on one cos The Body Shop body butter was good enough for my first pregnancy then. So I went to get the oil last Monday after Ying Ying's class. I tell you, I fell in love the minute I smelled the oil from the tester. It is a mixture of hazelnut oil with geranium, mint and rosemary. The bottle cost me about $80 and I have already used about 1/4 so far. Though not cheap, the oil is really effective - the belly itch went away after second or third day of use. What a good investment I say! I will never ever use any other types of body cream again! For pregnancy at least!

Meanwhile, I am still thinking about a name for baby 2. We were very undecided when it came to naming Ying Ying. So for the first couple of weeks after birth, right up the the deadline for birth registration, Ying Ying was nameless. Haha! So this time round, to save us from all the headache and last minute stress, I want to decide on a name before delivery.

So for now, the Chinese name will be Ang Xin Ling aka Ling Ling. Husband is pretty neutral about this. I like how Ying Ying and Ling Ling rhymes together.

As for the English name, We had originally thought of naming Joy, after a really nice and cheery ex-colleague of mine. But to my dismay, a distant friend who just delivered a month ago, also named her girl Joy. (Her older girl is called Faith too.) I thought of Grace but husband was adament against it cos he said one of his aunties has got the same name (so??). Well, Grace is not exactly no.1 on my list cos I once had a student named Grace whose words are smaller than ants, maybe slightly bigger than a flea (I kid you not).

Apart from values-naming, I guess we could give a name starting with the same letter F. But then, there aren't many girls' names starting with F that appeals to me.

I am also considering a name starting with letter A to go with her surname Ang. As a matter of fact, I nearly gave Ying Ying the name Alexis Ang. But husband objected cos he said it sounded too boyish for his liking. Well, there are lotsa girls' names starting with A but an A-name would be my last choice cos ideally I would like both my girls' names to have something in common. For example, Annabelle/Ava/Abigail Ang and Faith Ang won't have much in common right?

Aiyo! What a headache! *Sigh*
