My mother-in-law has been telling me to let Ying Ying wear panties instead of nappies and diapers. She claimed that nappies and diapers are making her walk open-leggedly which she felt was "very ugly". I tried to tell her Ying Ying is not ready for panties as yet but she said never mind lah which I find it quite irritating.
I have been training Ying Ying on Elimination Communication (EC) since she was 8mths old. She can pee and poo on cue now. But she still cannot express herself when she needs to pee and poo. So most of the time I rely on my intuition and take her to the toliet when I feel it is time for her to empty her bladder.
Right now, Ying Ying still wets her nappies about 3-5 times daily. Can you imagine the mess if there is nothing to absorb all the urine and poo-poo? Who is gonna clean up the mess? Worst still, what if she slips on the wet floor? I think, all these are more practical factors to consider than making sure she walk "nicely". Moreover, all babies tend to walk in an more or less open-legged manner what. So as to balance themselves better!
Anyway, just to prove her wrong, I bought a set of 6 Winnie-the-Pooh panties in S size last wkend. A bit regret not getting a size bigger so that she can wear them for a longer period of time. Will do a panty trial on her in the next few days and see if it works on her.
