Waiting + Fare Shock

These photos were taken while waiting for Ying Ying's school bus yesterday morning. The bus was late for nearly 45mins!!!!! :((( Imagine standing around for the whole length of time doing practically nothing!!! I could have fed them a proper breakfast instead of us waiting on empty stomachs. Luckily, I had brought meimei down in a stroller otherwise I would have a hard time controlling the two wandering kids at the side of road. I suspected something was amiss 15mins into waiting cos the auntie always comes between 7:55 to 8:00am. So I checked my phone and true enough, I had a missed call from her. Turned out the school bus had broken down and she had to get a replacement driver from Pasir Ris. Haiz. Under such circumstances, how I wish I have a car to chauffeur her to school.

By the time Ying Ying left, it was coming to 8:45am and we were running late for meimei's 9am class. It was impossible to reach there on time via public transport unless I forgo 40mins of the 2-hr lesson. So I decided to call for a cab. Thankfully, it was not too difficult to book one. Normally, it is hard to get a cab from Punggol cos almost everyone is heading south to town. While it was a breeze travelling in a cab (as compared to taking the LRT/MRT), I did a double take when the cab uncle handed me the change. I thought he had shortchanged me by $10 cos the meter showed only about $15. So I asked for a receipt to check. I felt a bit dizzy looking at the figure. Guess how much was the cab fare in total?

*heartpain* I will never take a cab to Orchard again at this hour. :(

I told hubby about my fare shock and he insisted it is STILL CHEAPER than to get a new car, factoring in cost of car, petrol, parking etc. Well, I guess the pinch comes more obvious when you part with your cold hard cash like that vs signing credit cards / issuing a cheque / doing a bank fund transfer. Sigh.
