Cards

As we did a batch of X'mas cards (see below) for all her classmates last month, I thought it would be a nice gesture to get Ying Ying to give CNY cards for her classmates too.

But this time round, she ONLY wanted to give to Dong Lin, which was good anyway since she took sooooooo long to do up one!!!

Dong Lin has been her classmate since playgroup or N1 time. Ying Ying considers him as her 'best friend' since he 'also likes cars' like her. There was one time she kept mentioning his name - Dong Lin this and Dong Lin that. Last month, our friend cried when I tried to place her on 3/4 day or extended programme. According to the principal, she started crying when she saw Dong Lin who was on 1/2 day, leaving for home i.e. leaving her behind. (Well, turned out the extended programme lasted only for 3 days because it was a real hassle for me to rush to school to fetch her everyday - the schoolbus was full for extended kids.)

Hmmm..... I wonder if Dong Lin likes the card. Who knows, he might have just tossed it away when he reached home. Ying Ying didn't get anything back from him since then so I am wondering if the feelings are mutual... Then again, we shouldn't give something while expecting something in return, right?

Above is the batch of X'mas Cards we made for Ying Ying's classmates last year. I was motivated to get her to do the cards so that she would have a chance to practise her fine motor skills like writing, cutting and pasting. At the same time, it felt good doing something nice to surprise her classmates. I also attached to the cards some of the photographs taken during her 4th birthday class celebration last September. I had meant to give them out earlier but kept procrastinating. I would think most parents would appreciate copies of their kids' photos taken in school since they have few opportunities to do so...
