Tomboy???

Ying Ying likes anything to do with wheels like cars and trains. She used to be crazy about Thomas & Friends when she was around 3 years old but has since switched her alliance to Disney Cars. (It is incredible how many types of merchandise can be spinned off from just a movie.) We allow her to have quite a sizeable Thomas/Cars collection because husband believes it is healthy to have something to be passionate about.

She has a loud authoritative voice. No problem with voice projection if she presents in class next time.

She shows absolutely NO interest in girly things like Disney Princess or Barbie. She doesn't think much of Pooh Bear or Hello Kitty but she is 'OK' with Barney and Mickey Mouse. One of her classmates gave her a doll for her 4th birthday but she took one look and then passed it to meimei... -_-

She is not really interested in reading fairy tales, preferring to read things related to her interests i.e. cars, trucks, maps, atlas, street directory, bus guide etc.

She doesn't care a hoot about what she is wearing or what I do to her hair. I usually put her in shorts and pants anyway because I dislike the thought of her being 'exposed'.

Her favourite colour is red but that is because her favourite Lightning McQueen is a red car.

She said her best friend in class is Tung Lin because he also likes cars.

Are we raising a tomboy???

Husband suggested we better put her in some convent school (instead of co-ed school) next time in case she gets 'marked' by teachers for her liberal and unconventional ways. Hmmm.....
