Thought the following info is useful. So I decided to record it here.
6 wardrobe staples to invest in:
- Little black dress (LBD)
- Crisp white shirt (Fitted cut)
- Belt
- Jeans
- Heels
- Handbag
Believe it or not, I realised I have just about NONE OF THE ABOVE!!! You see, I am always in my comfy tee-bermudas/shorts-sandals get-up cos I am always on the move. Since I have been on leave, all my work clothes have been banished to some corner and some of my leather work heels have gone dusty and mouldy to my dismay. I can't simply bring myself to wear them at this point in time. I mean, wear office wear to kiddy classes/supermarkets for who to see, right!?!?
Additionally, I have never owned a 'crisp' white fitted shirt for it is so humid teaching in non-air-conditioned classrooms. No belts too for I was afraid to draw attention to my not-so slim waistline. As for jeans, I have not found a 'perfect fit' as yet. In any case, I stay away from jeans because I find it too hot and restrictive in our kinda weather. My so-called handbag I am using is actually a diaper bag... Pathetic or not?
I think it's about time I shed my 'auntie' image. Seriously, there was once I saw an elderly lady in her 60s (with white hair and all) admiring a tee which I just did moments ago. So much for my fashion sense!!! -_-"
Well, husband's cousin's wedding is coming up in about a fortnight. Think it is an opportunity for me to get something from the list (i.e. LBD, heels, handbag) and update my wardrobe. The tricky part is taking time out to do shopping. I can' t think properly with kiddos in tow but at the same time I feel guilty leaving them behind at home to shop for myself. Haiz! Nevertheless, what is to be done has to be done. Goodbye, auntie! :p
