Goodbye, PlayNest!

Meimei only attended 4 out of 6 her PlayNest sessions since the term started. She was completely OK during the school holidays and only fell sick when she resumed her classes. So I am certain she must have caught something from her classmates. When I told her teacher about it, she started sounding defensive and said she could have gotten the viruses from anywhere and it is not fair (for me) to (blame and) compare the school environment with other places. Well, I was just being honest with her and I thought she could be a little more emphathetic and understanding about this. Everybody knows the schools are hotbeds for children to catch infections from one another and that is a fact, isn't it?

Meanwhile, I decided to postpone her PlayNest classes till next term to give her time to build up her immunity. Another reason was the timing of her classes - her classes start at 9am and it is a complete mad rush for me to get her to forum on time as I gotta send Ying Ying to school first. Plus, I have to feed meimei breakfast before we attend the sessions. Most of the time, it is either a case of have b/f-but-be-late-for-class or in-time-for-classes-but-no-b/f. Sometimes I tried to feed her something prior to her classes but she just doesn't wanna eat! *wastetime* So I usually postpone her brekkie till the end of her class since the whole trip would be a little pointless if we turn up so late.

Anyway, I think she is not getting much value out of the sessions so far cos unlike the other kids, she doesn't like the snack time (she eats absolutely nothing while others ask for second helpings - just like her sister last time) and she doesn't like to participate in the craftwork. Other activities like Storytime, Toytime, Bubbletime - all these I can do at home with her what! What I can't replicate is their music time - they play live music with guitar or keyboard.

By next term, meimei would be old enough to attend PlayClub which is meant for 18mth-3.5yrs. So it is goodbye, playnest! When I submitted the doctor's letter last Sunday, I was shocked to learn there were already quite a few people on the waitlist for the PlayClub classes for the next term, especially the morning slots. I really hope we can get the morning 9-11am slot because I wanna be home in time to meet Ying Ying after school. Keeping my fingers X.

I took meimei to see the GP at Rivervale Mall yesterday morning. That was her 3rd visit to the doc's in the past three weeks. The 1st visit was for her cough and wheezy chest; the 2nd visit was mainly to get a letter to postpone a term at JG; while the 3rd is for her persistent fever over the weekend (I suspected middle ear infection and I was right). The 1st 2 visits was at a reputable clinic in Yishun (highly recommended by mil) but I was so put off by the distance and the waiting time that I decided to go back to the doc at Sengkang whom I feel is equally competent too. I waited only for about 45mins compared to 2hrs at Yishun.

So meimei is back on antibiotics - the 4th round this year. :( The doc reminded me to get her jab for pneumococcal and flu when she is well. He had recommended previously to lower the risk of recurring middle ear infection but I was weary of vaccines so never got down to doing so. Maybe I should get her jabbed after all. Hmmmm....
