Potty Shopping, Baby Maclaren and the Richmonds!

We went to Mothers' Works at Great World City last Sat cos I wanted to get another Baby Bjorn potty for Ying Ying to be put at my parents' place. Ying Ying has been using the the potty for the past two weeks and so far it has been proven to be stable, comfortable (due to its ergonomic design), splash-proof, easy to use and clean. There was a sale going on and I thought I could get the Baby Bjorn toilet trainer seat at a discounted rate too. Unfortunately, they were both out of stock, even at the Tanglin Mall outlet! I can't believe they are sooo hot! I remembered seeing plenty of Baby Bjorn potties just a few weeks ago at the Tanglin Mall outlet. Looks like there are many Baby Bjorn potty fans like me out there...

Anyway, we saw a maclaren doll stroller! Even dolls have maclarens... with real front swivel wheels somemore. Ying Ying kept staring at doll - she wasn't sure what to make of it - is it a doll or a baby? She was most amused by its flickering eyelids and she even reached out to touch the,. I didn't bother to ask about the price. Definitely more expensive than her disney one which looked more like a toy (see previous post)!

And guess what - we saw Mark Richmond and Beatrice Chia and their newborn (I wasn't even aware that she had given birth prior to that)!!! They were talking to a salesman and blocking one of the aisles (with their orange rear-facing pram) which I wanted to pass with my stroller. That's when I started to take notice of them. Naturally, I was very excited - how many times do you shop with celebs under the same roof right? I noticed the salespeople and a few shoppers (except the expat ones) also recognised them and kept casting sideglances (like me) too. And boy, are they tall! I think Mark is about 1.9m (I later googled Beatrice and found out she is 1.75m.)

Anyway, Beatrice with her trademark straight long hair, was wearing jeans and a black sleeveless A-line tank. She didn't look like she had a lot of postnatal weight on her. She was also carrying a big gold quilted shoulder bag (which I presumed was a disguise for diaper bag). Mark is a good-looking chap I must say. He was wearing straight-cut jeans and a red rugged tee. I saw his wedding ring (yes, he was that close!) - it was a big chunky metal band. They make a handsome couple indeed. As for their baby Sol, he looked kinda small. I only managed to see his scrawny leg and blue socks. I was too shy to get any closer, unlike one lady shopper who pretended to pass by them and took a 3-second peek into their pram when the couple bent down to fuss over their baby. (I googled and found out Sol was born on 26 May 2007 which makes him exactly 1 mth and 1 day old when he was at the store with his parents.)

Needless to say, I couldn't concentrate on my shopping for the rest of the time we were there. I was busy contemplating if I should walk up to Beatrice and identify myself with BMSG and thereby share with her a couple of breastfeeding tips and encourage her to breastfeed for as long as she possibly can. It would be an excellent opportunity to invite her to our upcoming movie screening in August!

But alas, I was too chicken. PP advised me to leave them alone cos it was their private time (he emphasised). He then staretd to question how come I never approach other ordinary couples with newborns?? Besides, I risked embarrassing myself (if they are irked and decide to act aloof towards me) and worse, the organisation (if I say the wrong things, eloquence is never my forte). Ah well.

In the end, I paid for my purchases and left the shop reluctantly with the Richmonds still looking at the baby cots. Sigh! I think those people who approach celebs to take photographs or get their autographs must be very thick-skinned. I am just too shy (that's an understatement really) for such things!!!
