I have been taking Ying Ying to the Botanic Gardens twice a week after her afternoon classes at Tanglin Mall. It is only 15mins walk away and I thought some fresh air and exercise would do us good instead of loitering around the mall waiting for hubby to pick us up after work.
Last week while we were there, we saw a grandfather and his two grandsons feeding a big loaf of bread to the two mute swans residing at the swan lake. Well, the bread was not only eaten up by the swans but by the numerous tortoises and fishes too. The grandfather was very nice and passed us one slice of bread for feeding.
So this week, I brought along some bread from home. I told her we were going to feed the swans at the lake and she somehow understood me cos she kept saying "duck, duck" on our way there. Heehee... Ying Ying had loads of fun throwing the bread into the water. She kept saying "trow, trow" excitedly. But she doesn't really know how to throw yet - most of the time she just dropped it gingerly into the water. Sometimes she missed and the pieces landed on the concrete edge and I had to be careful to hold her back. Well, with more practice, I am sure she will be able to throw further! A couple came by and I passed on one bread slice to the lady to feed and she was really surprised and pleased. Well, what can I say? Sharing makes the world goes round - pass it on, pass it on... When we finished up all the bread, Ying Ying kept going back to her stroller and tried to look for more in the bag. So cute. :") Later, we saw a maid with a toddler. They had a huge bag of vegetables (kangkong, cabbage) with them. I was so surprised to see that the swans and the tortoises loved the veggies! They gobbled up all the kangkong leaves (must be their hot favourite) and ate the stalks last. I think they like the veggies much better than bread. Next time I (and you readers out there) know what to do with all the leftover veggies in the fridge!
