Trip to Bird Park

We took Ying Ying to the Jurong Bird Park this afternoon. I have not been there since when secondary sch days and I was pleasantly surprised at how picturesque the place has become now. We were surrounded by greenery and there were ponds and fountains almost everywhere you turn. A perfect place to take wedding photos!! :)

However, it got pretty boring after a while because there was not much variety to see (compared to the zoo) except for birds, birds and more birds... But we did enjoyed ourselves at the aviary. Ying Ying was amazed to see so many colourful birds up close for the first time. She kept staring at them and even attempted to reach out to them a few times!

By the end of the visit, hubby and I couldn't help but to feel sorry towards our feathery friends for losing their ability to fly freely in the wild. Especially so for the bigger exotic birds confined in caged enclosures like the eagles, vultures and giant owls whose wide powerful wings are meant to take them high up in the sky. But the ends justify the means - for the sake for educating the general public, I guess sacrifices of a handful is quite fair.

Overall, the trip had been quite pleasant though I doubt we will return in the near future! I think an annual visit is good enough. Hopefully, Ying Ying will be able to walk part of the journey on her own the next time we go! :)
